lady godiva and tailor tom

i am lady godiva who bared my breast
in 1040 Coventry at my best
to take the taxes off our homes
the peeper who went blind that was tailor tom

tis true i’m an angel who watches
only a friend to see you through
with good intent by heaven sent
and brand new clothes for the set

my sight has returned
to view the naked world
was i ever wrong to have my eyes open
as beauty i behold?

i am godiva and i am the fool
now we dance together at the break of noon
all might be forgiven if we remember to remove
the price tag on our hearts
with our well worn hats and shoes

i am lady godiva who bares my breast
with open eyes like tailor tom
with open eyes like you
with open eyes
