flowers for a friend

as i profess my undying love
you create such a complex pirouette
that i can not catch you
and let you down on a bed of roses
dropping you none the less

tucking you under covers
i plant a kiss on your extended hand
though you tugged at my heart strings
how far around the bush along the garden path?

all we ever wanted and nothing more
were these chocolate hearts melting
in time to some enchanted evening

now i lay my dreams upon a hill
fall into a peaceful slumber
and marry the moon full rising

you were right
dancing is learning to fall
in and out of love
till true life calls
from heaven after all
